I love the mood board over at Scrap Around The World so I decided to enter their challenge this month.
I like the shabby chic birdcage, the reference to dancing and the fashion items. The mood board immediately made me think of photos I have of my eldest sister when she used to go to dances in the late 1950s/early 1960s. All her dancing "frocks" were custom made by her dressmaker and all the men wore sharp suits. I love this idea of dressing up to go dancing - so different to the more relaxed ways I experienced in the 1970s. Anyway, this is my layout featuring my sister and her friend at a dance.
I started by tearing and inking my cardstock to give a slightly shabby look (like the birdcage in the mood board). I followed through with making the background behind the photo a bit shabby like old wall paper. I did this with stencilling, Gesso and Gelatos. I chose pink flocked cardstock because it's pretty and reminds me of the 1950s. I used lots of glitz to reflect the glamour of the time, and flowers to keep the layout pretty. The wooden dress maker's mannequin harks back to the bespoke nature of the lovely dresses the ladies are wearing. Here are a few close ups.
I had lots of fun making this layout. I hope you like it and thanks for taking the time to drop by.
Cheers
Wendy xx
