So far I've only shown you scrapbooking layouts, but this time I'm going to show you something a little different - a mixed media canvas. My interest in this type of art grew as an extension of my love of scrapbooking.
This is a 30cm X 30cm canvas panel that I prepare with several layers of paint before adding stamps and embellishments from my scrapbooking stash.

This detail on the right shows some of the embellishments I used from my scrapbooking supplies, including rhinestone bling, metal butterfly, string/yarn and antique birdcage tape. It also shows layers of colours poking through where I sanded back the top coats of paint to reveal what was underneath.

This other close up gives a better view of the background texture which was created with paint, paper and stencils and artist medium. Finally, the embellishments were glued down with Nod Podge and, when everything was dry, I sealed everything with Helmar Chrystal Kote.

Oh, I forgot to tell you how to do the lovely butterflies.......but that's something for another post. Until next time...:)
