Recently I visited the National Gallery in Canberra and, while I was there, I bought several post cards of my favourite artists. I was determined to scrapbook the postcards rather than just let them sit around somewhere in a box. One of the cards was "Men's Wear" by John Brack.
I thought the subject of this piece suited the
"fabric" theme perfectly. I often use fabric flowers and ribbons
on my layouts but this time I wanted to do something different. So, in keeping with the Brack's artwork, I did my
design team layout in an ultra-masculine style. I kept to fairly clean lines
and layered lots of mats under the picture. I made the shirt by paper folding and the tie with fabric. I used the embellishments (stitching, tape measures, pins, threads and scissors) because that's the paraphernalia used in sewing.
I enjoyed combining the art and fabric themes. I hope you enjoyed looking and I urge you to join us over at ARTastic for this months challenge. Cheers :)
I really like this one Wendy x

DeleteI love the fact that you found a use for the postcard. I often do the same. Buy a postcard at a museum or art gallery and then much later find a purpose for them. The tones of this piece are perfectly matched, even the little scissors work in beautifully, Wendy. I love it. Well done.
