ARTastic September Chalenge - Use String

The inspiration artwork at ARTastic Challenge Blog this month is a piece by Dominique Falla called Tipografia and the criterion is to use sting or twine.

Dominique Falla is an Australian designer/artist who works in a variety of craft mediums and combines them with a digital aesthetic to make tactile typography pieces. She is currently interested in the New Aesthetic and exploring ways in which the digital world can inhabit the real one using typography.

This piece of artwork with its "Relax and Unwind" theme made me think of holidays because that's the time when I truly relax. So I went searching for a holiday snap to scrap.

I often use string or baker's twine on my layouts so this time I decided to use twine in a different way. This I did by including the twine on a tag that I used on my layout - the very first tag I've ever made. Another first for me on this project is that I used Gelatos for the colour. I had never used Gelatos before and now after only using them once I'm in love with them.

Anyway, this is my completed design team project, a hybrid layout (the lighthouse is a digital stamp) of a family holiday snap of Monterey Bay.

Here's a little more detail and an explanation of some of the techniques I used:

Thank you for taking a peek at my blog. I hope we see you over at ARTastic for the challenge.
