Scrap Around The World September Challenge

Hello All

Today I'm playing along with the challenge over at Scrap Around The World. I couldn't resist their mood board.

I never do fairy tale, whimsical layouts but, it's such a lovely mood board, I had to give it a go. It reminds me of childhood, time passing and just plain whimsy. So, this is what I came up with.

This is a photo of my husband when he still lived in his hometown of Maastricht in The Netherlands. Not long after this photo was taken he immigrated to Australia with his large family .... how lucky am I? The photo was taken in 1954, so I wanted an old fashioned fairy tale feel.

The only old fashioned fairy tale paper I had was digital so I printed it out, tore and inked it before sticking it to the background cardstock. Next, I traced a wooden chipboard border onto patterned paper and cut it out. This formed the tree frame around the page. I roughly highlighted the edges so that it would stand out more. I turned the tree into a type of magical tree by hiding a pocket in it and inside the pocket is my hidden journaling.

Finally, I painted and inked my chipboard elements and added other brass elements and some golden thread throughout the page. Here are some close-ups of some of the elements on the page.

I hope I've captured the old fashioned whimsical look I was after and I hope you enjoyed looking. Thank you for stopping by.
Cheers
Wendy :)
