Well I thought I had finished for the day but I came across a challenge I couldn't resist. It's from Scrap Around The World November Challenge. You can find the challenge at http://www.scraparoundtheworld.blogspot.com.au/2013/11/november-2013-challenge-7-colourful.html

I have used a few colours from the mood board just to highlight the black and white photos. I've also adapted the sketch to fit my photos better and to provide a more masculine layout, and this is what I came up with.

I wanted the layout to be fairly monotone to highlight the serious, thoughtful nature of the boy in the photo (who, by the way, is my now 20 year old son). I then chose some selected bright colours to make the photos pop; hint at the possibility of a happy, colourful future; and tie in with the quote. Although you cant see it all that well, the outside circle is covered in coloured glitter to represent a glittery rainbow.

I used the following materials in my layout - Black cardstock, Kaiser Shaken Not stirred cardstock, Craftworks gold paper, Kaiser Timeless Collection Sheet Music, Cristina Re chipboard letters, Cristina Re Designer Chipboard Elements, Mont Marte metallic paints in silver, copper, bronze and gold, Jo Sonja's matt fluid acrylic paint in carbon black, Rosie's Studio Glitter Chipboard Tags, Sam and Lucy adhesive bling, Kaisercraft Basic Rhinestones, gold star beads, glitter in silver, gold and green, metallic gel ink pens, white Mitsubishi pencil, alphabet stencil and puff paint and various adhesives.

This detail on the left shows the colourful chipboard elements, bling, glitter (star dust), and the cardstock that has been altered with metallic paint.
The detail on the right shows how the gold foil paper mat helps the black and white photo to pop. The gold stars and bling are used to hint at the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Here's hoping there is a golden rainbow for my son in his future. Thank you for looking.....until next time.

    1. Thank you Keren for your comments. No, it is definitely a traditional layout but because it has a masculine theme, the embellishments are a little more subdued. I made some of the elements by punching out shapes from sheet music paper and adhering with foam dots. The other chipboard elements actually have glitter on them but I couldn't get a good photo to show that. I'm happy to join SATW :)
