Scrap Friends Sketch Challenge 22

Today I'm playing along with Scrap Friends and their sketch challenge which you can find over at http://blog.scrapfriends.com.au/search/label/Sketch%20Challenge

I used the basic sketch but widened the main focus so that I could extend the brick pattern from the photo onto the background card stock. I did this because I thought it would help achieve a grungy look. To follow the grungy theme, I tore and inked the top and bottom edges of my cardstock and sprayed the background with two different colours of chalkboard.

I stamped the hearts, cut them out and layered them on the page, using foam dots for the top layer. The bird stamp at the top of the layout is from the same set of stamps as the hearts. I used the negative of a heart chipboard frame to draw hearts with a Zig writer, then I outlined the hearts with glitter. I didn't want to waste the frame so I tied some baker's twine around it and tucked it under the photo. I also used two different types of washi tape, roughly torn, to add a bit more grunge. At the bottom of the page I used some more baker's twine, roughly tied, and added a couple of metal heart embellishments. Below are some close-ups.

Thanks for stopping by. :)
