Scrap Around the World Mood Board Challenge

Yesterday I had a really good day at the Melbourne Scrapbook & Paper Craft Expo with my friend Lynne. Aside from getting some really good buys, I managed to catch up with my distant cousin, fellow genealogist and amazingly creative scrap booker and card maker, Chris. All in all, it was a really enjoyable day.

When I got home I was just itching to try the new supplies I bought but wasn't sure what project I would use them on. Then I came across the Scrap Around the World mood board challenge at http://scraparoundtheworld.blogspot.com.au/2014/02/february-2014-challenge-ten-deliciously.html

I had bought some really nice washi tapes and beautiful Tattered Angels Chalkboard spray mists that I thought would fit the Scrap Around the World challenge very well. I started with a blank canvas, white cardstock. I sprayed it with several subtle Tattered Angels mist colours to build up the background. I cut the "Super Sweet" title from paper and mounted it on foam to give more dimension. To give more interest, I attached baker's twine to the title tag. Then I went about colouring and highlighting various stars to provide even more dimension. I outlined my paper stars and I painted my wooden stars with stickles glitter. I then used burlap and wool to finish off the project. Also, I converted my photo to black and white so that it stood out against the candy coloured background and embellishments. Finally. I doodled some hearts and dots in black to match the photo. I then used acrylic paints to fill in the hearts and tie the layout together. What do you think?

I used some of the washi tape to frame the photo and I used some to make bunting. I outlined all the tape embellishments with my black zig writer to make them stand out. Here are some close ups showing you how I created my layout.

I hope you like what you see and thank you for stoping by.
