ARTastic May Challenge - Mother and Child

In honour of Mother's Day, the challenge theme over at ARTastic is "Mother and Child" and the beautiful inspirational artwork to accompany it is Amarys by Robert Hagan.

 

I love the garden setting in the painting and movement of the plants so I decided to scrap a cheery page and try to portray that same sort of movement in my layout. I did this by including many different types of butterflies and positioning them as though they are flying across the page.

Just like the painting, I wanted an outdoors feel with pretty colours. The photos are from a family holiday to America in 2010.  It's very wet, dull and gloomy in Melbourne at the moment so I've waited days to get a photo of my layout. Unfortunately, the colours are not true to life but I could have been waiting a long time to get the right light! Here's a couple of close ups of the embellishments.

I really enjoyed doing this cheery layout on a dull Autumn day in Melbourne. I also got to use my new Brother Scan n Cut too (most of the butterflies were created with it) which was a bonus.
