Pixels and Paper June Challenge

Have a look at this beautiful inspirational picture for the June challenge over at Pixels and Paper.

I love the bright red bench against the subdued greyscale of the rest of the scene, and the wet, misty atmosphere looks great. I decided to incorporate those elements in my layout too but, instead of my layout looking wintry, I used an Autumn scene. Have a look at what I came up with.

I created this look by using only a few Autumn tones against a mainly black and white photo.  First of all, I converted the photo to black and white to highlight the wet, misty atmosphere. I then added colour to the path to highlight the Autumn leaves. Finally I coloured the umbrella red to draw the eye into the photo. I really like the way the umbrella provides a stark contrast to the black and white background (just like the red bench in the inspirational photo).

I used simple Autumn elements to complement the picture. I placed the leaves in the foreground in such a way so that they looked like an extension of the leaves in the photo.

Hope you like what you see and thank you for stopping by :)

  5. I have been meaning to pop over here and tell you just how much I love this layout ever since I saw it over at P & P. Just magical. Love how you have coloured the umbrella and leaves in the photo and extended the leaves out onto your layout and the framing of the layout just sets it all off. Just Beautiful
