This months inspiration over at the ARTastic Challenge Blog is the beautiful painting "Under the Jacaranda Tree" by Godfrey Rivers.
The extra criteria is to use a vintage photo at least 30 years old.
I absolutely love the blooms of the Jacaranda tree. I particularly love the way the blooms form a beautiful blue carpet on the ground when they drop from the tree. With this in mind, I decided to use blue and mauve hues on my layout. I also think these colours go well with vintage, sepia tones.
The vintage photo I've used was taken in 1918 and it's a photo of my mother as a baby with her brother who was 18 months older than her. My mother's favourite colour was mauve, another reason why I chose the colour hues I used.
The photo is obviously a studio shot, but I really like the way it looks so rustic with the tree branch chair. I could just imaging these two little cherubs sitting on it under a Jacaranda tree at a family gathering.
Hope you like my layout and thank you for stopping by.
Cheers
My grandmothers fave colour was any purple shade. :) What a wonderful photo to have and I love how you scrapped it. just beautiful.
