ARTastic July Challenge

Hello Scrapbooking Friends,

Look at what ARTastic Challenge Blog has for you this month:

This beautiful piece of art "Umbrellas - Wet Street" was created Shirley Charlton (AKA Shirlroma). Use this to inspire your creativity and make sure you use water/liquid on your project.

Before I show you what I created, I would like to tell you a little about Shirley Charlton:

Shirley Charlton is an international artist and professional tutor, based in Brisbane, Australia. As well as painting she teaches courses and workshops with Adult Education. Shirley was born in Malawi, in central Africa. She studied at the Technical Art College overseas and her art qualifications include graduate diplomas from the Open college of Arts in London, as well as the Paris School of Arts.

With many exhibitions, awards and sales to her name, she has also judged a number of shows. Her original paintings are in big demand and can be seen in collections around the world. With her ability to paint from her heart she is helping people in Malawi. All the funds from the sale of her paintings go to Papalala za Ongwala (On theWings of an Eagle Christian Family), which provides help to those in hospital and prisons without food.

Shirley is also teaching art at Street Level in the Valley to help the unemployed and homeless
.

Now, this is what I created:

To get the wet/liquid look I used Glimmer Mist, Kaiser Mists and sequins on the background.  I was inspired by the vivid colours and the sense movement in the inspirational piece. I used birds, butterflies and flourishes to portray this sense of movement. I also used a large photo so the subject colour and detail wouldn't get lost.

Here's some close-ups:

Come on over and see what the other Creative Team members came up with and if you're looking for some inspiration,  join the challenge. We would love to see your work, and you could win a prize from Mystical Scrapbooks or Flourish with a Bling. You will also have a chance to win a random draw prize that will be donated by one of our Creative Team members.

Thank you for stopping by.
