ARTastic August Challenge - Background textures

Hello Everybody,

I've got another super challenge for you from the ARTastic Challenge Blog. The inspirational artwork this month is Kirra Jamison's "Over the Moon".

It's a very cute but sophisticated piece of art with lots of detail in the background. That's where the extra criteria comes from - it's all about the background. Use stencils, Gesso, paint, ink, anything to give your background texture.

Kirra Jamison was born in Sydney in 1982 and now lives and works in Melbourne. She has a First Class Honours degree from Queensland College of Art and Post Graduate studies from the California Institute of  the Arts. Kirra Jamison has won many scholarships and awards and has exhibited all over Australia and overseas.

This is what the artwork inspired me to do:

Just like the inspirational artwork I was "over the moon" to catch up with family from overseas and interstate over Easter. We had such a fun few days at our house. In keeping with the celebratory nature of the occasion, I kept my colour palette lighter than that used in the inspirational artwork. I did, however, use lots of stamping and stenciling to create texture on the background. I also included several photos on the page to show how much fun was had by both young and old(er).

Come on over and see what the other Creative Team members came up with and if you're looking for some inspiration,  join the challenge. We would love to see your work, and you could win a prize from Mystical Scrapbooks or Flourish with a Bling. You will also have a chance to win a random draw prize that will be donated by one of our Creative Team members.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. Cheers for now.
